Shawn Barber Painting Seminar

“Still Life from Reference and Life” $200

In this 1 day, 5 Hour Painting Seminar, Shawn will demonstrate and walk you through creating a still life painting from reference and life- going back and forth between the two to see form and structure.

We will be working with a limited palette, photo reference (which will be taken before the seminar from multiple angles)- and painting a still life over a 5 hour period. The first two hours we will focus on drawing, color mixing and laying down a solid foundation. Then we will work back into the paintings and work towards completion.
Shawn will demonstrate process and go back and forth between active assistance and demonstration. This seminar includes discussion and demonstration on palette setup, medium choices, color mixing, constructing a drawing and painting the still life. Within the seminar, we will elaborate on the power of suggestion and ‘building up’ oil paint to a level of completion over a 5 hour day period.

Gessoed painting panels, Turpenoid, Galkyd, and Galkyd Slow Dry will be provided.
A full outline of necessary supplies to purchase will be provided after a deposit is paid.

This course is recommended for the beginner to intermediate level painter, however some experience in painting is encouraged.

This 5 hour class is limited to 15 people.
