Last night the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills, CA put on a spectacular tribute for the centennial birthday of Mary Blair, and this morning Google has honored her legacy with Mary as the inspiration for their Friday “Google Doodle” click here to see that.

Mary forged her way into the (then very) male dominated world of feature animation within the 1940’s era Walt Disney Studios. She produced groundbreaking concept and color design for projects such as “Cinderella,” 1951’s “Alice in Wonderland” and 1953’s “Peter Pan” — as well as the design for It’s a Small World. Her fresh and mid century modern influence can be seen and felt strongly throughout the art world, animation and feature films today.  Below I’ve gathered some links images and videos, Happy Birthday Mary and thank you for all of the beauty and inspiration!
